ITHACA, N.Y. -- Host Ithaca outscored Nazareth 9-2 in the second half Saturday on the way to a 14-7 victory in an Empire 8 Conference women's lacrosse game.
Kylie McClure and Catherine Hurley each scored five goals for the Bombers, who improved to 5-5 overall and 2-3 in the Empire 8. Nazareth dropped to 7-4 overall and 3-2 in conference games.
The score was tied 5-5 at halftime and Nazareth went up 6-5 on a free-position goal by
Alyssa Mulheron just 55 seconds into the second half. Ithaca then scored the next nine goals -- including five by Hurley and three by McClure -- to take a 14-6 advantage with less than 12 minutes to play.
After Mulheron's goal, Hurley scored three straight goals for Ithaca in less than three minutes to give the Bombers the lead for good at 8-6. McClure then added three straight goals in a five-minute stretch to extend the lead to 11-6. Two more goals by Hurley and one by Lauren Fitzgerald made it 14-6.

Kara Kulba each scoring twice for Nazareth and junior
Nora Davis once. Davis scored unassisted with 6:16 left in the half to tie the score at 4-4 and Cook scored with 1:25 to play to give Nazareth a 5-4 advantage. Ithaca knotted the score again at 5-5 on a free-position goal by McClure with :07 left.
Ithaca had advantages in shots (32-18), ground balls (18-8) and draw controls (14-9) and got seven saves from goalie Courtney McDowell. Senior
Maria Fusco had nine saves for Nazareth.
Nazareth's next game is at home Wednesday against William Smith at 5 p.m.
