UTICA, N.Y. -- Nazareth evened its Empire 8 men's tennis record at 2-2 Thursday with a 7-2 triumph over host Utica. The Golden Flyers are 3-11 overall.
Sophomore
Adam Landry posted victories in singles and doubles matches as did juniors
Alex Bodensieck,
Alex Wilczak and
Dan Matteo.
Landry was a straight-set winner at first singles and then teamed with junior Steve Trobert for an 8-2 win at first doubles. Bodensieck won a third-set tiebreaker to win at third singles, while Wilczak won a close match 7-5, 7-5 at fourth singles. Matteo also won a tight match 7-5, 6-4 at sixth singles.
Bodensieck and Wilczak teamed up to win 8-3 at second doubles while Matteo and freshman
Colin Doran won at third doubles.
Nazareth plays two more conference matches this weekend -- Friday at Alfred at 4 p.m. and Saturday at home against Hartwick at 1 p.m.
