Nazareth opens at McDaniel Tournament

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. -- Nazareth's men's and women's golf teams opened their respective spring schedules Saturday with first-round play at the McDaniel Spring Invitational at The Bridges Golf Club. The tournament was scheduled to resume Sunday, but the men's portion was wiped out by rain while the women were able to complete nine holes.
Nazareth's men's team placed 15th with a team score of 349. Carnegie-Mellon and Susquehanna shared first place with a score of 310. Top individual for the Golden Flyers was senior
Matt Dalton, who stood in 34th place with a score of 82. Senior
Josh Maxwell was next with 87.
In the women's tournament, Nazareth finished sixth a 570 total for 27 holes. Allegheny won the event with a 27-hole score of 494. Sophomore
Michelle Van Slyke finished in a tie for 15th place individually with rounds of 93 and 45 for a 135 total. Junior Meghan Hardy was next with 96 and 42 for 138 to place 20th. Junior
Kate Holland had scores of 98 and 47 for 145 and a tie for 26th place.
