KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Junior Kelley Horbal had five hits in two games Thursday as the Golden Flyers split a pair of softball games in Florida. Nazareth defeated Millikin, 8-1, in the first game, then lost to Hope College, 6-1.

Nazareth is 4-4 overall and plays two more games Friday before returning home. The Golden Flyers play Kean, N.J. at 9 a.m. and Wisconsin-Stevens Point at 1 p.m.

Against Millikin, Horbal had three hits in four at bats, including a double, and scored three runs. Senior Laura Persico added two hits in four at bats with a doubl;e and four runs batted in. Junior Polly Muehlenkamp contributed two hits and two runs scored. Freshman Kelly Kocher pitched seven innings and secured the victory with seven strikeouts.

In the second game, Horbal also had two hits and sophomore Laura Gillen scored the team's lone run in the fifth inning after reaching base on the fielder's choice.
