Nazareth competes at NYSCTC meet

Men's team finishes 9th; Women's team places 8th

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Junior Matt Case finished third in the 400-meter dash finals with a time of :51.22 to help lead Nazareth to a ninth-place finish at the NYSCTC Championships, hosted by the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Freshman Dan Polino contributed a 10th-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 41 feet, 3 1/4 inches while senior Robby Castor added a 15th-place finish in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:40.01. The Golden Flyers finished the two-day competition with 10 team points.

St. Lawrence University finished in first place with 181 total team points, followed by Rochester Institute of Technology in second place with 146 points, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in third place with 137 points.

The 4x800-meter relay team, consisting of Castor, sophomore Matt Morales, and freshmen Peter Fekete and Tim Rutan placed eighth in 8:39.51. The 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of freshmen Pat Kelly, John Russo, Donato DiRenzo, and Ryan Files, finished in ninth-place with a time of 3:47.93.

In the women's meet, senior Lauren Glaser finished second in the 800-meter run Saturday to lead the Nazareth women's track and field team to eighth place. The Golden Flyers finished the two-day competition with 32 points. Ithaca won the women's meet with a total of 223.50 points, followed by the University of Rochester in second place with 158 points, and St. Lawrence University in third place with 140.50 points.

Graduate student Jessica Brown added a fourth-place finish in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:09.13 while junior Caitlyn Parmelee placed fourth in the one-mile run with a time of 5:24.29. Freshman Deborah Morey also competed individually for Nazareth and finished 17th in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.98 seconds.

The women's 4x400 and 4x800 meter relay teams placed eighth and ninth respectively. The 4x400 team, consisting of Parmelee, Brown, Glaser, and freshman Evelyn DeSantis finished its race in 4:26.41, while the 4x800 team, consisting of sophomores Jessica Goodrich and Sara Wilcox and juniors Jennifer Lounsbury and Kaitlyn Gecsedi, finished its race in 10:59.85.
