SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Junior
Lauren McKinney shaved another second off her preliminary time Thursday, but was overtaken at the finish and settled for a second-place finish in the 200-yard IM at the Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Association championship at Nottingham High School.
McKinney was in first place following the morning prelims and then swam 2:06.30 in the final. RIT's Caitlyn Burr won the race in 2:05.64. McKinney's preliminary time was more than nine seconds faster than her seed time of 2:16.69. She also hit the B-cut qualifying time for next month's NCAA meet.
Nazareth is in fourth place in the team standings with 304 points. Ithaca was in first place with 406, followed by Stevens (367), Union (315) and Nazareth.
McKinney also participated in Nazareth's 400 medley relay that finished in fifth place with a time of 4:02.80. Sophomore

Nazareth also set two school records. Junior
Erin Rappold shattered the school record in the 500-yard freestyle with a third-place time of 5:06.45, also a B-cut qualifying time for the NCAAs. Rappold broke the record of 5:12.48 held by Jen Taets since 1999.
Nazareth also set a school record in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:38.53 in the prelims. The Golden Flyers wound up finishing fourth with a slightlhy slower time of 1:38.88 with the foursome of freshmen
Holly Gilligan,
Rachael Phipps and Conklin, plus senior
Brittany Beane. The previous record of 1:39.97 was set last year. Conklin also placed eighth in the 50-yard freestyle (:24.78) and junior
Lindsey Buzard finished third in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 339.60.
