Nazareth competes at Cornell

Glaser finishes second in 800

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Senior Lauren Glaser and junior Caitlyn Parmelee were among the top performers for Nazareth Saturday as the Golden Flyers competed at the Kane Invitational hosted by Cornell University.

Glaser narrowly missed winning the 800-meter run as she finished second by less than a second with a time of 2:21.79. Houghton's Darby Emmerson won the race in 2:21.27. Parmelee placed eighth in the 800 (2:31.99) and 10th in the mile (5:31.11).

Other top finishers included junior Melissa Cutcliffe, who was fourth in the long jump (5.25 meters); graduate student Jessica Brown, who was seventh in the 1,000-meter run (3:15.93); freshman Deb Morey, who was 12th in the 60-meter hurdles (10.63); and junior Samantha Hickok, who was 14th in the 5,000-meter run (20:40.58).

In the men's meet, senior Robby Castor, battling a foot injury for most of the indoor season, returned to action Saturday and finished seventh in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:39.56.

Junior Matt Case ran well in the 200- and 400-meter dashes. He set a school record in the 200-meter dash with a seventh-place time of :23.15. Case also placed third in the 400 with a time of :51.20.

Other top finishers included sophomore Matt Morales, who ran seventh in the 5,000-meter run (16:10.55); junior Dave Patalano, who ran 13th in the 800-meter run (2:04.53); and freshman Nick Spera, who was 20th in the mile run (4:49.93).
