ITHACA, N.Y. -- Senior
Robby Castor, battling a foot injury for most of the indoor season, returned to action Saturday at Cornell University's Kane Invitational and finished seventh in the 1,000-meter run.
Castor was one of the top finishers for the Golden Flyers, who brought men's and women's track and field teams to Cornell. Castor posted a time of 2:39.56. Junior
Matt Case ran well in the 200- and 400-meter dashes. He set a school record in the 200-meter dash with a seventh-place time of :23.15. Case also placed third in the 400 with a time of :51.20.
Other top finishers included sophomore
Matt Morales, who ran seventh in the 5,000-meter run (16:10.55); junior
Dave Patalano, who ran 13th in the 800-meter run (2:04.53); and freshman
Nick Spera, who was 20th in the mile run (4:49.93).
In the women's meet, senior
Lauren Glaser missed winning the 800-meter run by less than a second. She placed second with a time of 2:21.79. Houghton's Darby Emmerson won the race in 2:21.27. Glaser also placed 22nd in the 200-meter dash (:28.86).
Other top finishers included junior
Melissa Cutcliffe, who was fourth in the long jump (5.25 meters); graduate student
Jessica Brown, who was seventh in the 1,000-meter run (3:15.93); junior
Caitlyn Parmelee, who finished eighth in the 800-meter run (2:31.99) and 10th in the mile (5:31.11); freshman
Deb Morey, who was 12th in the 60-meter hurdles (10.63); and junior
Samantha Hickok, who was 14th in the 5,000-meter run (20:40.58).
