Billy Gimello each had nine kills Tuesday to lift visiting Nazareth to a three-set victory over SUNYIT in men's volleyball. Nazareth won the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association match by scores of 30-12, 30-16, 30-26.
Nazareth, ranked eighth nationally, improved to 7-2 overall and 5-0 in conference matches. SUNYIT is 0-10.
The Golden Flyers amassed 50 kills in the three sets against just 13 hitting errors for a .468 success rate. Gimello's nine kills came in just 12 attempts for a .750 percentage. Seniors
Chris DeHority and
Kelvin Rolle had eight and seven kills respectively. Senior setter
Frank Leahy posted 39 assists.
Nazareth competes again this weekend in the annual
Nazareth Invitational with seven nationally ranked teams. Nazareth opens play Friday against New Paltz at 2 p.m.
