ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Senior Corey McAdam scored 25 of his career-high 38 points in the second half Wednesday as host Nazareth rallied past Pitt-Bradford, 77-73, in the consolation game of the Nazareth Invitational, sponsored by the Holiday Inn Airport.

The Golden Flyers were able to salvage a third-place finish in the tournament and improved to 5-3 overall. Pitt-Bradford dropped to 3-7. Albright captured the tournament title with a 68-52 victory over Johns Hopkins in the championship game.

McAdam's 38 points is the second highest Nazareth scoring game ever, surpassed only by a 40-point effort by Richard Sparks against Alfred in 1986. McAdam represented the Golden Flyers on the all-tournament team as he made 10 of 17 shots from the field, including 2 of 4 from three-point range. He also equaled a school record by sinking 16 free throws in 19 attempts.

Nazareth trailed 35-32 at halftime, but the game stayed close most of the second half and was tied 11 times overall. The score was tied for the final time at 58-58 with less than 10 minutes left. Freshman Dan Waldbillig scored off a pass from McAdam to trigger a 12-4 scoring run that ended with Nazareth ahead 70-62 with 5:25 left. McAdam scored nine points during the decisive run.

Pitt-Bradford rallied to within 75-71 following a three-point field goal and another basket by all-tournament team selection Zach Moore,  but Jason Corletta and McAdam each sank free throws in the closing seconds to preserve the victory.

McAdam had six assists and five rebounds in addition to his 38 points. Freshman Tyshun Stephens added 14 points and Corletta added 13. Waldbillig contributed eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

Zach Moore finished with 27 points for the Panthers. Mike Ridge added 15 points and seven rebounds.

The Golden Flyers resume their Empire 8 Conference schedule this weekend with road games at Hartwick Saturday and at Stevens Sunday. Both games start at 4 p.m.
