All-Region teams
ROCHESTER, N.Y. --
Mallorie Clary, a senior defensive specialist on the Nazareth women's volleyball team, has been named to the New York Region all-star team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Clary was honored for the second year in a row and was the Golden Flyers' lone representative on the first-team. Senior middle blocker
Katelynn Reed made honorable mention.
Clary, of Baltimore, Md. and a graduate of Catonsville High School, played in 36 of the Golden Flyers' 38 matches in 2009 and amassed 621 digs (4.97 per set). She racked up 1,843 digs in three seasons to ranked third all-time in that category at Nazareth. In 2009, Clary also had 37 kills and was second on the team with 49 service aces.
Reed, of Horseheads, N.Y. and a graduate of Horseheads High School, led the team in service aces with 54 and in blocks with 98. She also ranked second on the team with 219 kills.
Nazareth finished with an overall record of 25-13 in 2009 and finished second in the Empire 8 regular-season standings with a 7-1 record.
