CANTON, N.Y. -- Sophomore Kelly Kuhn and junior Erica Conte scored second-half goals for visiting Nazareth Saturday as the Golden Flyers held off St. Lawrence in women's soccer, 2-1.

The non-conference win extended Nazareth's unbeaten streak to six games (5-0-1) and improved the Golden Flyers' overall record to 6-2-1. St. Lawrence is 6-4-2 overall.

After a scoreless first half, Nazareth finally broke through in the 66th minute as Kuhn netted her first career goal off an assist from freshman Christine Belding. Then in the 85th minute, Conte broke through the St. Lawrence defense to score her team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Less than a minute after Conte's goal, St. Lawrence broke up the shutout as Becca Townsend chipped a shot over the head of Nazareth goalie Hillary Simon for her fifth goal of the season for the Saints. Kristina Peso had the assist.

The Saints had a 26-16 advantage in shots, including a 21-8 edge in the final 45 minutes. Simon finished with a season-high 12 saves in 90 minutes for Nazareth.

"For some reason we have a tough time playing when we have the lead," said Nazareth Coach Gail Mann. "We played some of our best soccer of the season at times, but they had about a 20-minute stretch of the second half where they were all over us."

The Golden Flyers travel to the University of Rochester Tuesday for a non-conference game at 7 p.m.
