ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Host Nazareth gained its third straight shutout victory in men's soccer Saturday as the Golden Flyers dominated Elmira from start to finish in a 4-0 victory.

The Golden Flyers remained unbeaten in Empire 8 Conference play at 2-0. They improved to 6-4 overall. Elmira is 6-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Nazareth is home again Sunday to host Ithaca at 12 p.m.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Platt made his third straight start in goal and recorded his third straight shutout as he made five saves. Freshman Alex Manchev delivered the only goal Nazareth needed just over seven minutes into the game as he deflected a pass from sophomore Chris Mitchell past Elmira keeper Jared Micheller.

Mitchell also assisted on Nazareth's second goal in the 36th minute as his crossing pass from the right wing was one-timed into the goal by senior Greg Blanchard.

In the second half, junior Rikesh Kotak delivered Nazareth's third goal on a penalty kick after teammate Philip Holmberg was fouled in the penalty area. That came in the 53rd minute.

Less than five minutes later, Holmberg netted his first goal of the season after he one-touched a through pass from junior Mark Van Thof and into the goal. It was the first goal in two years for Holmberg, who missed all of the 2008 season with a knee injury.

Nazareth had a 23-8 edge in shots and Elmira had five corner kicks to Nazareth's four.
