UTICA, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth recorded its 10th women's soccer victory of the season Saturday as the Golden Flyers scored twice in the first half and once in the second for a 3-0 win over Utica.
Nazareth improved to 10-4-1 overall with its fourth win in a row (and third straight by shutout) and 6-1 in Empire 8 Conference matches. Utica dropped to 4-11 overall and 2-6 in the Empire 8. The victory clinched a second-place finish in the Empire 8 Conference for the Golden Flyers, who are ranked seventh in the NCAA's East Region.
Against the Pioneers, Nazareth dominated the first half with a 9-0 advantage in shots and two corner kicks. Sophomore
Deborah Towle scored Nazareth's first goal in the 15th minute on a direct kick from about 25 yards out. Junior
Abbey Bentz then contributed her first goal of the season in the 40th minute with an assist from
Rachel Piemonte.
Nazareth scored again in the second half as junior
Erica Conte scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season with an assist from freshman
Amanda Sudore.

Hillary Simon played all 90 minutes in goal and made five saves for her fourth shutout of the season.
Nazareth is home again Tuesday for a non-conference game against Geneseo at 3:30 p.m.
