ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- After an 11-day layoff, host Nazareth resumed its women's volleyball schedule Wednesday by recording a three-set sweep over the University of Rochester in a non-conference match at the Kidera Gymnasium. Scores were 25-21, 25-19, 25-20.
Nazareth improved its overall record to 19-10, while the Yellowjackets dropped to 14-15.
Junior
Kristi Custer recorded a match-high eight kills, including five in the third set. Freshman
Aubrey Cooke tallied seven kills and 10 digs while senior
Katelynn Reed also added seven kills. Custer and Reed each had five aces for the Golden Flyers, who accumulated 12 during the match. Seniors
Kate Zwickl and
Mallorie Clary had 28 assists and 16 digs, respectively.
Kelly Mulrey had a team-high six kills for the University of Rochester. Rachel Bender recorded 15 assists while Lauren Bujnicki tallied 14 digs. Nazareth's defense forced the Yellowjackets into negative hitting percentages in the first and second sets.
The Golden Flyers' next match is Saturday at 12 p.m. against Stevens. Nazareth is hosting the
Empire 8 Crossover Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
