ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Junior
Kristi Custer recorded a match-high 12 kills to go with three service aces Friday to lead host Nazareth to a three-set sweep of Brockport in the second match of the Purple and Gold Invitational for women's volleyball. Scores were 25-19, 25-17, 25-20.
Nazareth also defeated Keuka (25-10, 25-14, 25-13) earlier in the evening and their winning streak now stands at eight matches. The Golden Flyers (16-6 overall) play two more matches Saturday -- Brockport at 11 a.m. and Cobleskill at 3 p.m.
Against Brockport, Nazareth won in decisive fashion as freshman
Liz Towne contributed eight kills and senior
Katelynn Reed added seven. Senior Kate Zwickl
totaled 25 assists and senior Mallorie Clary# had 13 digs.
Custer also had 12 kills and seven service aces against Keuka. Towne and freshman
Amy Johnson added nine kills and eight kills, respectively. Zwickl tallied a match-high 41 assists and Clary# had 11 digs.
The Golden Flyers controlled the match with a .615 hitting percentage in the first set, a .346 hitting percentage in the second set, and a .464 hitting percentage in the third set. In comparison, Nazareth's defense held the Storm to hitting percentages of .174 in the first set, .062 in the second, and .059 in the third. The Golden Flyers also had a 17-1 advantage in service aces.
