Nazareth routed at Ithaca, 122-90

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Six players scored in double figures for host Ithaca Friday as the nationally ranked Bombers dominated Nazareth from start to finish in a 122-90 men's basketball victory at the Ben Light Gymnasium.

The Bombers, ranked 12th by d3hoops.com, remained unbeaten at 12-0 overall and 4-0 in the Empire 8. Nazareth dropped to 2-8 overall and 1-3 in conference games.

Nazareth stayed close in the first eight minutes and trailed by one, 22-21, following a free throw by Corey McAdam with 11:45 left. The Bombers then quickly embarked on a 14-4 scoring spree to increase the lead to double digits for the first time, 36-25, with 8:42 left in the half. Reserve guard Jordan Marcus hit three three-pointers to fuel the run. He finished with a game-high 25 points, including five three-pointers.

Ithaca was never seriously challenged thereafter. The lead grew to 62-40 by halftime and to 122-88 late in the second half. Sean Burton and Sean Leahy each scored 17 points. Jeff Bostic had 13 points to go with a game-high 15 rebounds. Scott Ruffrage (11) and Chris Cruz (10) also reached double figures.

Ithaca shot 42 for 81 from the field (51.9 percent), including 10 for 33 from three-point range.

Junior Corey McAdam paced Nazareth with 23 points with eight rebounds and five assists. Senior Jeff DeHimer added 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Nazareth's next game is in the first round of the JPMorgan Chase Scholarship Tournament. Nazareth hosts two first-round games Wednesday at 6:15 and 8:15 p.m. Pairings will be revealed Sunday evening.
