Egmond breaks pole vault record

CANTON, N.Y. -- Nazareth junior Jill Egmond broke her own indoor school record in the pole vault Saturday as the Golden Flyers competed at the Saints Indoor Track and Field Invitational at St. Lawrence University.

Egmond's height of 2.70 meters translated to 8 feet, 10 1/4 inches and was good for a sixth-place finish. 

Senior Lauren Glaser was second in the 800-meter run (2:25.52) and junior Caitlyn Parmelee was eighth in the same race (2:38.05). Parmelee also ran the mile in 5:40.67, good for 12th place.

Junior Shannon Bradley was sixth in the 5,000-meter run (20:10.93) and sophomore Samantha Hickok was ninth in the same race (20:39.82). Senior Katie Adams competed in the weight throw (10.79 meters) and the shot put (8.90 meters).

In the men's meet, junior Matt Case was Nazareth's top individual performer as he finished first in the 400-meter dash with a winning sprint of :51.67 seconds. He also placed fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of :23.48 seconds.

Nazareth's other competitors included sophomore Matt Morales, who placed 12th in the 5,000-meter run (16:39.63) and freshman Pat Kelly, who was 12th in the 55-meter dash (6.99).
