Flyers compete at Tiger Invitational

Cutcliffe second in long jump

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth resumed its indoor track and field season Saturday with a meet at RIT Gordon Fieldhouse. No team score was kept, but the Golden Flyers benefited from several fine individual performances.

In the women's meet, Melissa Cutcliffe placed second in the long jump with a leap of 5.20 meters (17 feet, 0 3/4 inches). Senior Lauren Glaser came close to breaking her own record in the 400-meter dash with a fifth place time of :63.43. Her school record is :62.07. Glaser also finished ninth in the 500-meter run (1:27.77).

Junior Caitlyn Parmelee placed eighth in the 1,000-meter run (3:22.37) and 11th in the 400-meter dash (:66.51). Graduate student Jessica Brown returned to action after a one-year sabbatical and placed 12th in the 500-meter run (1:29.77) and 16th in the 1,000-meter run (3:31.21).

Junior Shannon Bradley finished 15th in the 3,000-meter run (11:58.71) and 22nd in the mile run (6:05.10). Senior Katie Adams placed 10th in the 20-pound weight throw with a distance of 11.29 meters (37 feet, 1/2 inch).

In the men's meet, junior Matt Case paced the Nazareth men's team with third-place finishes in both the 200- and 400-meter dashes. His time of :23.60 in the 200 was just .3 of a second off the school record.

Freshman Dan Polino finished 12th in the long jump with a distance of 6.12 meters (20 feet, 1 inch). He also finished 16th in the triple jump with a distance of 12.07 meters (39 feet, 7 1/4 inches). Freshman Tim Rutan finished 23rd in the 500-meter run (:74.00).
