CLINTON, N.Y. -- Nazareth's men's golf team stood in third place after the second day of competition Sunday at the Empire 8 Conference Championship Tournament at Skenandoa Golf Club.
The Golden Flyers have a two-day score of 661 and trail defending champion St. John Fisher (619) and Elmira (631) in the team standings. Stevens (669) and Utica (707) are also competing. The tournament will be completed in the spring (Apr. 18-19) with Elmira hosting.
Nazareth senior Matt Dalton posted his second straight sub-80 round to move into fourth place individually. He had a 4-over-par 76for a two-day total of 155, eight strokes behind leader Brandon Christo of Elmira.
In additon to Dalton, Nazareth's four other competitors each shot 82 Sunday. Graduate student Mark Chambers and freshman Colin Doran are tied for 14th place with 168 totals. Senior Josh Maxwell and sophomore Ben Herrmann are each one stroke back in a tie for 16th place.
