Nazareth runs at Western Ontario

Women's team finishes 10th; men's team places 7th

LONDON, ONT. -- Junior Caitlyn Parmelee was the Golden Flyers top finisher at the Western Ontario Invitational as she completed the five-kilometer course in 73rd place with a time of 21:14. Senior Abby Crain finished just behind Parmelee in 76th place with a time of 21:19. 

Junior Shannon Bradley was Nazareth's third finisher in 78th place with a time of 21:29 while senior Megan Goetz finished fourth for the Golden Flyers in 82nd place and a time of 21:34. Sophomore Samantha Hickok (21:43) was Nazareth's fifth finisher in 84th place and was followed by sophomore Jessica Stanchus (21:54) and freshman Kate Cufari (22:02) in 88th and 89th place respectively.

Guelph claimed first place in the women's race with a total of 31 points. McMaster finished second with 85 points while Windsor edged Toronto for third place by one point with a total of 107. The Golden Flyers finished 10th with 315 points.

Graduate student Nick Stenuf was the Golden Flyers' top finisher in the men's meet as he completed the 10-kilometer race in 11th place with a time of 33:59.

Senior Robby Castor was Nazareth's second runner as he finished 38th with a time of 35:32. Castor was followed by sophomore Matt Morales (36:54) in 55th place, freshman Peter Fekete (38:22) in 70th place, and sophomore Paul Wheeler (39:53) in 78th place. Freshmen Tim Rutan (40:35) and Nick Spera (40:45) finished sixth and seventh for the Golden Flyers and placed 83rd and 86th overall.

As in the women's race, Guelph's top five runners placed first. The men's team tallied 44 points and edged out host Western Ontario who accumulated 47 points. Windsor finished third with 71 points while Queen's finished fourth with 102 points. Nazareth placed seventh with 202 total points.

The Golden Flyers travel to Utica for the E.J. Herrmann Invitational September 27th.
