Nazareth names women's assistants

Flyers hire Reisman, Cornett

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Nazareth College women's basketball team has announced the hiring of Kim Reisman and Ashley Cornett as part of their 2008-09 coaching staff. They will join second-year head coach Devin Gotham and volunteer assistant coach (and twin brother) Kerry Gotham to complete the Nazareth staff.

“I am very excited about the addition of Kim and Ashley to our program,” said Gotham. “They both bring with them some very valuable experiences they have had in their respective time involved with collegiate athletics, and possess an incredible amount of enthusiasm and passion for the game of basketball.”

A native of Syracuse, Reisman spent the last two years coaching at SUNY Oswego. She graduated from Oswego after playing two seasons at SUNYIT and two seasons at SUNY Potsdam. She was a two-time recipient of SUNYIT's coaches' award and was team MVP as a junior. She also was named female Athlete of the Year in '06.

Cornett is a first-year coach who graduated from Niagara last spring. She played scholastically at Campbell-Savona, suffered a knee injury and was a walk-on at Niagara. She was able to earn a scholarship by her senior year and was the recipient of the Purple Eagles' coaches award as a testament to her hard work and dedication.

Nazareth finished 8-17 overall in 2007-08, including an improbable trip to the finals of the JPMorgan Chase Tournament. Seven of the Golden Flyers' defeats were by 10 points or less. This year's season opener is Nov. 15 at home against Hilbert.

"Kim and Ashley will be very beneficial to the evolving competitive culture we worked to establish throughout my first season," Gotham said. "We can't wait to get started on Oct. 15."
