ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Senior
Kristen McIntyre scored the only goal of the game less than 12 minutes into the second half Wednesday to lift host Nazareth to a 1-0 field hockey victory over the University of Rochester.
The non-conference victory was the first of the season for the Golden Flyers, who improved to 1-2 overall. Rochester slipped to 3-2 overall. The Yellowjackets had beaten Nazareth eight straight times in field hockey, dating back to 1999.
McIntyre's goal was her first of the season and came off an assist from sophomore
Sara Heron to break the scoreless tie.
Nazareth had five shots to Rochester's three, but the Yellowjackets had a 16-6 edge in penalty corners. Nazareth goalie
Kelsey Evans made two saves to gain the shutout. Danielle Pearson had four saves for Rochester.
Nazareth is home again Wednesday, Sept. 17th against Oswego at 4 p.m.
