BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Host Brockport got the game-winning goal with 1:19 left in the first overtime period Saturday as the Golden Eagles edged Nazareth 3-2 in a non-conference field hockey game.

Coming off the finest season in their history in 2007, the Golden Flyers couldn't hold a 2-1 second-half lead as Brockport rallied to win the season opener for both teams.

In the second half, freshman Elise Maryanopolis (Gloversville, NY) netted her first career goal off a pass from junior Anna Wing (Johnstown, NY) to give the Golden Flyers a 2-1 advantage.

Brockport's Laura Reisdorf got the tying goal 12 minutes later before Amanda Pickard got the game-winning score in overtime.

The game was the first of two meetings between the teams this season. Brockport visits Nazareth Sept. 30. Sophomore Kelsey Evans (Penfield, NY) played in goal for Nazareth and amassed a career-high 12 saves.

Nazareth is home Saturday to play William Smith at 2 p.m.
