Nazareth picked 3rd in field hockey

Golden Flyers are defending E8 champion

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth's field hockey team, Empire 8 Conference champion in 2007, is picked to finish third in the conference standings for 2008, according to a pre-season poll conducted among the league's head coaches.

The Golden Flyers enjoyed their best season ever in '07 as they finished 14-6 overall to set a school record for victories. The Golden Flyers also competed in the ECAC Tournament.

In a close vote, Hartwick was picked to finish first with 31 points, followed by Stevens (30) and Nazareth (26).

Guided by fourth-year coach Andrea Tutino, Nazareth opens its '08 season Aug. 30 at Brockport.
