Nazareth gets four on all-region team

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Four Nazareth women's lacrosse players have been named to the Empire Region all-star team that has been released by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association.

Senior midfielder Caity Richardson was a first-team selection, while sophomore attacker Nora Davis, junior goalie Maria Fusco and junior defender Maggie Mullin each made the second team.

Richardson, of Pittsford, N.Y. and a graduate of Pittsford Mendon High School, was a two-sport standout for the Golden Flyers as she also started for the soccer team last fall. In lacrosse, Richardson appeared in all 15 games and contributed eight goals and one assist. She also led the team in ground balls (37) and draw controls (34).

Davis, of Syracuse and a graduate of Bishop Ludden High School, was Nazareth's leading scorer in 2008 with 43 points on 39 goals and four assists. She scored three goals or more in a game eight times for the Golden Flyers in '08.

Fusco, of Chaumont, N.Y. and a graduate or Immaculate Heart Central, started all 15 games for the Golden Flyers in 2008 and had 104 saves for a .500 save percentage and a 7.54 goals-against average.

Mullin, of Rochester and a graduate of Irondequoit High School, contributed one assist in 15 starts and was second on the team in both ground balls (30) and draw controls (24).

Nazareth posted a 10-5 overall record in 2008 and won the regular-season Empire 8 Conference championship.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth College women's lacrosse coach Sue Behme has been named Empire 8 Conference Coach of the Year for the 2008 season.  Behme led the Golden Flyers to their fourth consecutive regular-season title as Nazareth extended its regular-season conference winning streak to 28 games.
