Civalier makes first team all-league

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Senior midfielder Aaron Civalier earned first-team honors Tuesday with the announcement of the Empire 8 Conference all-star teams for men's lacrosse. The teams were selected through voting conducted by the league's nine head coaches.

In addition to Civalier, freshman midfielder Corey Remoli and sophomore defensive midfielder Kyle Brown made the second team. Senior midfielder Matt Aloi and senior defenseman John Hanss made honorable mention. Senior attackman Steve Cutia was Nazareth's representative as E8 Sportsman of the Year.

Civalier, of Rochester, N.Y. and a graduate of Penfield High School, was Nazareth's leading scorer in 2008 with 42 points on 29 goals and 13 assists. He also had a team-high 106 shots and scooped up 23 ground balls. He also had a team-high four man-up goals.

Remoli, of Asbury, N.J. and a graduate of Voorhees High School, was second behind Civalier in scoring with 31 points on 22 goals and nine assists plus 28 ground balls.

Brown, of Baltimore, Md. and a graduate Catonsville High School, appeared regularly in all 14 games for the Golden Flyers as a long-stick midfielder and contributed two goals and two assists with a team-high 45 ground balls.

Aloi, of Jamesville, N.Y. and a graduate of Jamesville-DeWitt High School, had 30 points on 26 goals and four assists, while Hanss, of Rochester and a graduate of Irondequoit High School, started all 14 games and was second on the team with 40 ground balls.
