ITHACA, N.Y. -- Junior Lauren Glaser recorded a first-place finish in the 800-meter run Saturday at the Empire 8 Track and Field Championships hosted by Ithaca College. Glaser finished the race in 2:19.87 for Nazareth's top individual finish.

Nazareth finished fourth in the team standings with 75 points. Ithaca won the meet with 246 points and was followed by RIT (164), Stevens (80), Nazareth (75) and Alfred (10).

Additionally, Nazareth junior Nicole Nolan placed sixth in the 100-meter dash (13.97) while senior Jennifer Giebel finished seventh in the 400-meter dash (1:03.71). Freshman Jessica Goodrich (2:38.91) and sophomore Jenny Lounsbury also placed eighth and 10th respectively in the 800-meter run (2:48.03). 

The Golden Flyers had three runners finish in the top 10 places in the 1,500-meter run as Goodrich (5:31.98), freshman Megan O'Connor (5:51.99), and Lounsbury (5:56.28) placed eighth, ninth, and tenth respectively.

Other top performers included freshman Brittany Dodd who placed second in the 100-meter hurdles after finishing the race in 16.38. Fellow freshman Kristi Custer finished sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.86. In the 400-meter hurdles, junior Vicki Ryan placed second with a time of 1:09.97.

The Golden Flyers have also performed well in field events as sophomore Jill Egmond placed second in the pole vault with a vault of 9 feet, 2 1/4 inches. In the shot put, junior Katie Adams and sophomore Emily Irish finished second and fifth respectively. Adams recorded a throw of 33 feet, 4 3/4 inches while Irish's throw was measured at 29 feet, 2 1/2 inches. Adams also placed third in the hammer throw (98 feet, 10 inches) and sixth in the discus (77 feet, 5 inches). Senior Emily Cannon was second in the hammer throw (100 feet, 3 inches) and fifth in the discus (77 feet, 11 inches).
