Sharpe makes honorable mention

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Ali Sharpe, a senior forward on the Nazareth women's basketball team, has been selected as an honorable mention choice to the Empire 8 Conference all-star team for the 2007-08 season.

The Empire 8 women's basketball honors were selected through voting by the league's nine head coaches.  Junior Sally Wilcox was Nazareth's representative as Empire 8 Sportswoman of the Year.

Sharpe, of Rochester, N.Y. and a graduate of Aquinas High School, led the Golden Flyers in points per game and rebounds in the 2007-08 season.  Sharpe scored 254 total points averaging 10.6 points per game.  The Rochester native also led Nazareth in offensive and defensive rebounds throughout the season.  She had 180 total averaging 7.5 rebounds per game.  Sharpe also recorded 13 blocks and 29 steals in her final season at Nazareth.

Wilcox, of Millport, N.Y. and a graduate of Odessa-Montour High School, averaged 6.7 points per game throughout the season.  The Millport native ended the season ranking second on the team with 38 three-pointers.  Wilcox was also second on the team with a .349 three-point percentage.  She also averaged 1.4 assists per game.
