CUMULATIVE STATSPITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Sophomore guard Kelly Dunne scored a career-high 20 points, making five three-point baskets Tuesday, as visiting Nazareth defeated St. John Fisher in women's basketball, 69-54.
The victory boosted Nazareth's overall record to 7-12, including 3-7 in the Empire 8 Conference. Fisher is 11-8 overall. It marked Nazareth's second win of the season over Fisher in three meetings. Nazareth also won 59-56 in the semifinals of the JPMorgan Chase Tournament Jan. 10, while Fisher defeated Nazareth five days later, 55-53, at the Kidera Gymnasium.
The Golden Flyers were hot from the outside all night as they made 12 of 24 shots from three-point range. The Golden Flyers also went 15 for 19 from the free-throw line.
Dunne went 5 for 8 from three-point range, while senior Sally Wilcox went 4 for 10 and finished with 14 points. Nazareth also had a 44-31 rebounding advantage, led by Ali Sharpe's 12.
Nazareth went 8 for 15 from three-point range in the first half to build a 37-26 lead. Dunne and Wilcox each made three long-distance shots for nine points. Jamie Malloy had the other two three-pointers and had eight points.
Nazareth's lead continued to grow in the second half as the Golden Flyers led by as many as 20 points.
The Golden Flyers return to action Friday at Hartwick at 6 p.m.
