ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Corey McAdam, a sophomore point guard on the Nazareth men's basketball team, has been selected as a first-team all-star in the Empire 8 Conference for the 2007-08 season.

The Empire 8 all-star teams were selected through voting by the league's nine head coaches. Senior guard Joe Canori was a second-team selection and junior forward Ryan McAdam also represented Nazareth as an honorable mention choice.

Regular-season conference champion Ithaca had two first-team selections in Player of the Year Sean Burton and junior forward Jeff Bostic. Utica guard Doug Herring and Stevens guard Waleed Farid also were named to the first team.

Joining Canori on the second team were St. John Fisher's Justin Beigel, RIT's Mark Carson, Hartwick's Jan Cocozziello and Stevens' Virgil Gray. Ithaca's Jim Mullins was named Coach of the Year. RIT's Shane Foster and Fisher's Ozell Franklin shared Rookie of the Year honors.

McAdam, of Fairport, N.Y. and a graduate of Fairport High School, was the E8 Rookie of the Year last season. In '07-08, he is the conference leader and is second nationally in assists at 8.8 per game. He also is averaging 13.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. He ranks 14th nationally in steals at 2.9 per game.

Canori, of Webster, N.Y. and a graduate of Webster Thomas High School, recently became Nazareth's all-time leading scorer and enters this weekend's Empire 8 Conference Tournament with 1,869 career points. He is second in the E8 in scoring at 20.7 points per game and has made 72 three-point baskets.

Ryan McAdam, older brother of Corey, is Nazareth's leading rebounder at 8.9 per game and second leading scorer at 14.6 per game.

Junior Chris Barrett (Williamsville, N.Y.) was Nazareth's representative as E8 Sportsman of the Year.

The Golden Flyers also claimed an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament that begins Thursday.
