ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Senior Lizzie Barlow recorded a team-high 16 points and nine rebounds to lead Nazareth to a 58-48 victory over Waynesburg in a non-conference women's basketball game. Senior Sally Wilcox sparked the Golden Flyers in the first half as she tallied 11 points by going 3-3 from beyond the three-point arc and 4-4 overall.

With the victory, Nazareth improves to 5-2 overall. Waynesburg dropped to 4-5 overall following the loss.

After the Yellow Jackets took an 8-4 lead four minutes into the first half, the Golden Flyers answered with consecutive baskets by Barlow, Wilcox, and freshman Brittany Wilson to take the lead. Nazareth quickly extended its lead to double-digits thanks to the sharp three-point shooting by Wilcox. The Golden Flyers took their largest lead of the game at the 5:54 mark following a layup by junior Jamie Malloy. Waynesburg's Hannah Hunter connected with a two-point jumper to cut Nazareth's lead to 31-20 at halftime.

Nazareth opened the second half with two free throw shots by Barlow to extend its lead to 13 points. The Golden Flyers held a double-digit lead over the Yellow Jackets for much of the first 12 minutes of the second half. Waynesburg cut the Nazareth lead to three points, 48-45, with 4:40 remaining in the game, but Barlow connected on two free throws to stretch the Golden Flyers' lead to five points.

Nazareth scored the final six points of the game to secure the victory. Barlow connected ono a two-point jumper, followed by a free throw by junior Kelly Dunne and three free throws by junior Rachel Pirozzolo.

In addition to the points by Barlow and Wilcox, Dunne recorded eight points while Malloy added six points and Pirozzolo finished with five points. Wilson and Malloy each added seven rebounds for the Golden Flyers, who outrebounded the Yellow Jackets 47-38.

The Yellow Jackets were led by Callie White and Hunter who scored 18 points and 12 points respectively. Elisha Jones also finished in double-digits with 11 points and had seven rebounds. Jeanette Wonsettler tallied a team-high nine rebounds for Waynesburg.

The Golden Flyers return to Empire 8 competition Friday and Saturday. Nazareth hosts Stevens at 6 p.m. Friday before hosting Hartwick at 2 p.m. Saturday.
