CLINTON, N.Y. -- Senior Abby Crain was Nazareth's top finisher in 28th place, at Saturday's NYSCTC women's cross country race hosted by Hamilton College.

Nazareth graduate student Nick Stenuf turned in a second-place finish in the men's race. Both teams placed seventh oput of 10 teams in their respective team standings.

In the women's race, St. Lawrence finished 1-2-4 individually and took the team title with 35 points. Ithaca was next with 52, followed by Hamilton (75), Rochester (88), RIT (149), Rensselaer (174), Nazareth (183), Alfred (232), Hartwick (265) and Union (269). St. Lawrence's Wendy Pavlas won the 5-kilometer race with a time of 18 minutes, 28 seconds.

Crain crossed the finish line in 20:27 to lead Nazareth. Behind her were junior Shannon Bradley in 36th place (20:39); junior Caitlyn Parmelee in 38th place (20:44); senior Megan Goetz in 49th place (21:11); sophomore Samantha Hickok# in 50th place (21:16); senior Lauren Glaser in 54th place (21:25); freshman Michelle Gillette in 58th place (21:33); sophomore Jessica Stanchus in 65th place (21:50); sophomore Jacquie Brambley in 69th place (22:04) and sophomore Jessica Goodrich in 74th place (22:33).

In the men's race, Stenuf was timed in 27 minutes, 14 seconds on the 8-kilometer course at Hamilton. He was a distant second, however, to the Continentals' Peter Kosgei, who was clocked in 26:08.

University of Rochester won the men's race with 53 points. They were followed by St. Lawrence (63), Ithaca (64), Hamilton (122), Renssealer (125), RIT (151), Nazareth (179), Alfred (249), Union (271) and Hartwick (306).

Following Stenuf to the finish line for Nazareth were senior Robby Castor in 31st place (28:21); sophomore Matt Morales in 49th place (29:22); freshman Tim Rutan in 67th place (30:41); freshman Peter Fekete in 68th place (30:44); and sophomore Paul Wheeler in 80th place (32:54).

Nazareth competes again Saturday at the NCAA Atlantic Regional at St. Lawrence.
