SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Junior Caitlyn Parmelee was Nazareth's top female finisher as she covered 5 kilometers in 19:14 at Saturday's Saratoga Invitational. Nazareth placed 13th in the team standings with 313 points. St. Lawrence won the meet with 65 points.
Parmelee was 11th among Empire 8 runners and earned second-team all-conference honors as a result. Nazareth finished fourth as a team in the E8 part of the meet with 89 points. Ithaca was first with 21, followed by RIT (69), Stevens (85) and Nazareth (89). Alfred (120), Hartwick (164) and Utica (184) also competed.
Junior Shannon Bradley was next in 65th place (19:37). Senior Abby Crain was two place behind Bradley in 67th place (19:38). Samantha Hickok was next in 79th place (19:49), then senior Megan Goetz in 80th place (19:50). Goetz also was Nazareth's E8 representative as Sportswoman of the Year.
Nick Stenuf was Nazareth's top individual finisher for the men's team, which finished 12th in the team standings with 342 points. Keene State won the meet with 62 points.
Stenuf crossed the finish line 13th overall with a winning time of 25:55 over the 8-kilometer course. Senior Robby Castor was Nazareth's next best finisher in 46th place (26:40), followed by sophomore Matt Morales in 86th place (27:23); freshman Peter Fekete in 119th place (28:00) and freshman Tim Rutan in 197th place (29:36).
