ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Stevens junior forward Terrance Johnson scored three times for the Ducks in the second half Sunday to rally his team to a 4-1 men's soccer victory over Nazareth at Golden Flyer Stadium.

Trailing 1-0 at halftime, the 10th-ranked Ducks scored four times in the second half to overpower the upset-minded Golden Flyers. The Ducks improved to 13-1-2 overall, including 4-0-1 in the Empire 8 Conference. Nazareth is 6-7-2 overall with a 2-2-1 mark in conference games.

Nazareth is locked in a three-way tie for fourth place in the Empire 8 with RIT and St. John Fisher. Stevens (4-0-1), Ithaca (3-0-2) and Utica (3-2-0) occupy the top three spots. The top four teams make the Empire 8 Conference Tournament Nov. 7 and 9.

Stevens had been unscored upon in conference play in 2008 until Nazareth's Andrew Alaimo converted for the Golden Flyers at 27:15 of the first half. Alaimo scored when a free kick by Nazareth's Mohammed Ahamed deflected off the crossbar. The rebound ended up on the foot of Alaimo, who scored his team-best seventh goal of the season.

Stevens dominated the early stages of the second half and scored the tying goal less than three minutes after the intermission as freshman Peter Bednarsky (Hackettstown, NJ) threaded a pass through the Nazareth defense to Johnson, who drilled a 12-yard shot past Nazareth keeper Ryan Platt.

Less than seven minutes later, Johnson scored again, this time on a header that came directly off a throw-in by junior Josh Williams.  Junior Todd Sheridan scored Stevens' third goal and then assisted on Johnson's third goal of the game with less than nine minutes left. Johnson now has a team-best 12 goals.

Stevens had a 20-9 shooting edge with sophomore goalie Zach Carr making two saves while Platt had seven for Nazareth.

The Golden Flyers are off until next Saturday when they visit Alfred for an Empire 8 Conference game at 7 p.m.
