Purple defeats Gold in annual meet, 129-77

Conklin and Fritz each record two victories for Purple

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Freshman Jaclyn Conklin, junior Lindsey Buzard, and senior Mike Fritz each won two events to lead the Purple team to a 129-77 victory over the Gold team in the annual Purple and Gold swimming and diving meet.

Conklin took a victory in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of :29.14 followed by a victory in the 100-meter fly with a time of 1:10.89. Fritz claimed first in the 200-meter IM with a time of 2:31.67 and the 100-meter breaststroke with a time 1:15.82.

Junior Lindsey Buzard recorded victories in the one-meter diving event (199.87) and three-meter diving event (215.62) while sophomore Paul Thompson added a first place finish in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:16.16. The 200-meter medley relay team, consisting of freshman Sara Weigel, junior Eric Lenhardt, Fritz, and Conklin, also claimed victory (2:00.00).

Juniors Raymond Weston and Erin Rappold and freshman Dan Walton each recorded a first-place finish for the Gold team. Weston took first in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:07.91, while Rappold took first in the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 4:50.81, and Walton took first in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 1:00.92.

The Gold team also won the 200-meter freestyle relay in 1:54.71. The relay team consisted of Weston and freshmen Holly Gilligan, Rachel Hayes, and Walton.

Nazareth opens its swimming and diving season at Alfred on Saturday, October 25th.
