Flyers blank Hamilton, 3-0

Nazareth ends two-game scoreless string

ROCHESTER, NY -- The Nazareth College field hockey team shut out Hamilton College, 3-0, Wednesday to break a two-game scoreless streak.  The Golden Flyers had not scored a goal since their 2-1 overtime win over Brockport Sept. 30.  Nazareth improved to 5-6 overall with the non-conference victory while Hamilton had a four-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 5-5.

Senior Julie Paska (South Glens Falls/Fort Edward, NY) scored Nazareth's first goal 11:57 into the first half off a pass from senior Kristen McIntyre (Royalton-Hartland/Lockport, NY).  Junior Anna Wing (Johnstown) scored her first goal of the season off a scramble in front of the cage 12 minutes later.  Kelly Flanagan (Fairport) was credited with the assist. 

Nazareth took its 2-0 lead into the second half before Flanagan put the game away with her team leading eighth goal of the season at 43:18 off an assist from McIntyre. 

Hamilton out-shot Nazareth 13-11 while the Golden Flyers had a slight 8-7 edge on penalty corners.  Kelsey Evans (Penfield) made eight saves in goal for Nazareth, earning her third shutout of the season.  Hamilton's Courtney DeMaria finished with four saves. 

The Golden Flyers continue their home stretch with a non-conference game against St. Lawrence on Saturday, October 18 at 2 p.m.
