Bradley leads Flyers to first place

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth's women's cross country team used its depth well again as the Golden Flyers placed four runners in the top eight places and seven runners in the top 15 to win the Nazareth Invitational. Junior
Shannon Bradley was Nazareth's top finisher in the four-kilometer race in fourth place with a time of 16:05.

The Golden Flyers' top five runners combined to tally 35 points while Oswego finished in second with 57 points. Daemen claimed third place with 70 points followed by Fredonia State in fourth with 84 points and Utica in fifth with 121 points.

Bradley was followed by junior Caitlyn Parmelee in fifth place (16:17) while seniors Megan Goetz (16:19) and Abby Crain (16:22) finished in seventh and eighth place respectively. Sophomore Samantha Hickok (16:31) rounded out Nazareth's top-five as she finished 11th overall.

Also in the women's race, senior Lauren Glaser  (16:41) finished 13th overall, followed by freshman Kate Cufari (16:49) in 15th place, sophomore Jessica Stanchus (16:59) in 20th place, sophomore Jessica Goodrich (17:14) in 24th place, and freshman Michelle Gilette (17:15) in 25th place.

In the men's six-kilometer race, graduate student Nick Stenuf helped lead Nazareth to a second place finish after he placed first with a course record of 20:36. Stenuf beat former Nazareth runner Aaron Sirtoli's course record of 21:10 by out-kicking Fredonia State's Tom Williams (20:41) to the finish.

Nazareth's top five runners combined for 53 points to take second place. Fredonia won the men's race with a total of only 26 points as the Blue Devils had six runners finish in the top ten. Utica finished with 61 points, followed by Oswego in fourth place with 109 points and Daemen in fifth place with 131 points.

Senior Robby Castor finished fifth overall (21:37), followed by sophomore Matt Morales (21:47), who finished seventh. Freshman Peter Fekete (22:15) was the Golden Flyers next finisher in 14th place, followed by freshman Tim Rutan (23:41) in 36th, freshman Nick Spera (23:56) in 40th, and sophomore Paul Wheeler (24:15) in 42nd place.

The Golden Flyers' next Invitational is at the Empire 8 Championships October 25th.
