CUMULATIVE STATSALFRED, N.Y. - Junior Taryn Bilodeau (McGraw HS/McGraw, NY) scored a career-best three goals Wednesday as visiting Nazareth dominated Alfred in women's soccer, winning 7-1 in the Empire 8 Conference opener for both teams.
Nazareth boosted its overall record to 4-1. Alfred is 0-4-1.
The Golden Flyers scored the game's first four goals and ultimately led 5-1 at halftime. Caroline Parsons (Glens Falls, NY) and Kelly Finn (Homer HS/Cortland, NY) each scored early in the first half, before Bilodeau scored all three of her goals with the last tally coming less than three minutes before halftime off an assist from Alicia Franceschi (Liverpool HS/Liverpool, NY).
Nazareth extended its lead on second-half goals by Rachel Cushman (Irondequoit HS/Rochester, NY) and Kathleen Niland.
Nazareth had a 31-5 edge in shots and a 10-0 advantage in corner kicks. Freshman Hillary Simon played the first 45 minutes in goal, while senior Shannon Burns and sophomore Polly Muehlenkamp split time in the second half.
Nazareth travels to Oneonta Saturday to resume its Empire 8 Conference schedule at Hartwick at 2 p.m.
