ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Kelly Miranda, a senior forward on the Nazareth College field hockey team, has been named Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week for the period that ended Nov. 4, 2007.

A native Ossining, N.Y. and a graduate of Ossining High School, Miranda helped Nazareth win its first-ever Empire 8 Conference championship with weekend wins over Ithaca and Washington & Jefferson. Miranda had two goals in the second half of Saturday's 3-2 semifinals win over Ithaca. She was named Most Valuable Player of the E8 Tournament.

Miranda is Nazareth's second leading scorer for 2007 with 30 points on 11 goals and eight assists. She has helped Nazareth to its best field hockey season ever, which includes a 14-5 record and the second seed in this week's ECAC Mid-Atlantic Tournament. Nazareth hosts FDU-Florham Wednesday at 4 p.m.
