ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Falling short in a bid to land its first-ever NCAA Tournament berth, Nazareth's field hockey team accepted a consolation prize Monday as the second seed with this week's eight-team ECAC Mid-Atlantic Tournament.
As champion of the Empire 8 Conference, Nazareth (14-5) will host seventh-seeded Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham Wednesday at 4 p.m. The semifinals will be either Friday or Saturday and the final on Sunday.
Other tournament participants are 1. William Paterson (12-6), 3. Washington & Jefferson (15-4), 4. Montclair State (12-6), 5. Drew (11-8), 6. Stevens (12-6) and Catholic (11-8).
Nazareth won the E8 title Sunday with a 2-1 win over W&J.
