Christopher Lofgren
ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Sophomore Christopher Löfgren, a midfielder on the Nazareth College men's soccer team, is the Golden Flyers' lone first-team representative on the Empire 8 Conference all-star teams that were released today.

The all-star teams were selected through voting conducted by the conference's eight head coaches.

Löfgren, of Vellinge, Sweden, helped the Golden Flyers to an overall record of 8-7-2 and the fourth seed for this week's Empire 8 Conference Tournament. He has started all 17 games and recorded eight points on two goals and four assists.

Junior forward Justin Stevens (Canisius HS/Derby, NY) was a second-team selection, while sophomore midfielder Philip Holmberg (Malmo, Sweden) and freshman back Mark Daly (Glasgow, Scotland) made honorable mention. In additon, senior back Chad Kies (Vestal HS/Apalachin, NY) was the Golden Flyers' men's soccer representative on the Sportsman of the Year team.

Stevens has appeared in all 17 games for the Golden Flyers in 2007 and leads the team with 10 points on four goals and two assists. He also was the Golden Flyers' leading scorer last season. Daly and Holmberg have each started regularly for the Golden Flyers in '07 and have each scored twice. Both of Daly's goals have been game-winners -- against Roberts Wesleyan in overtime Sept. 25 and at RIT with 15 seconds left last Saturday to clinch a berth in the E8 Tournament.
