SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Nazareth battled to its second straight tie in men's soccer Friday as the Golden Flyers used a first-half penalty kick from sophomore Philip Holmberg to gain a 1-1 tie at Skidmore.

Nazareth also played to a 0-0 tie at Hamilton Tuesday and now has a 2-1-2 overall record. Skidmore's record is 1-4-1 overall.

"They probably had the better of the chances," said Nazareth Coach Danny Gilbertson, "but the positive thing is that we're becoming tough to beat."

Sophomore goalie Trey Barresi played all 110 minutes, including two 10-minute overtime periods, in goal and recorded a career-high 10 saves. He yielded an unassisted goal to Skidmore's Ernie Economides just two minutes into the game, but was resilient thereafter.

Nazareth tied the score in the 28th minute after Holmberg was dragged down in the penalty area. He converted the subsequent penalty kick for his first goal of the season.

Skidmore had a 24-13 edge in shots, including a 7-3 advantage in the two overtime periods. The Thoroughbreds also had nine corner kicks to Nazareth's three.

Nazareth returns to action Saturday for another non-conference game at Union at 6 p.m.
