ROCHESTER, NY -- Senior Paul Pacitto (pictured, Wayne Central HS) scored the game-winning goal early in the first half to help lift the 11th-ranked Golden Flyers to a 2-0 non-conference victory over Fredonia in the Doug May Classic for men's soccer. The game was the season opener for both teams.

Sophomore Christopher Lofgren sent a cross to the left of the goal to junior Justin Stevens (Canisius HS), who advanced the ball to Pacitto, who converted on the team's first shot of the season in the 16th minute of play.

Senior Matt Bader added an insurance goal  for the Golden Flyers in the 34th minute after a corner kick. Sophomore Philip Holmberg initiated the play and Bader netted his first career goal by tapping the ball into an open net.

Sophomore goalie Trey Barresi made six saves in his first game as a Golden Flyer. Barresi kept the Blue Devils scoreless with 20 minutes to play by saving a shot from Peter Dagel off the right post.  He deflected another shot by Jeff Moretti over the crossbar with about 17 minutes to play to help secure the victory.

Nazareth plays against Geneseo at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday in its second game of the Doug May Classic. RIT will play Fredonia at 3:00 p.m.
