Box Score ROCHESTER, NY (nazathletics.com) - The Golden Flyers' women's soccer team suffered their first loss of the season Saturday afternoon against the visiting Bombers. The non-conference game was scoreless until the 75th minute when Jayne Bogle put Ithaca on the board.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Katriana Walls recorded four saves before the Bombers' go-ahead goal. She finished with five saves on the day.
- Bogle scored following a Nazareth turnover near midfield. After taking possession, Ithaca advanced toward the Golden Flyers' goal. Lilyana Baldi sent a through ball to connect with Bogle at the top of the Nazareth box. Bogle dribbled a couple of strides into the box before burying a shot past Walls's finger tips and into the lower right corner.
- The Golden Flyers' best scoring opportunity came in the opening minutes. Nazareth sent a long pass in the direction of Savanna Biehler, and she took advantage of a defender's miscue to race toward the Bombers' goal. Ithaca's Katrina Varnum came out and blocked Biehler's initial shot. The ball remained in play, and Biehler's rebound attempt bounced off the left post.
- The Golden Flyers outshot the Bombers 6-2 in the opening half before Ithaca outshot Nazareth 9-4 in the second stanza.
- Ithaca finished with a 7-2 advantage in corner kick opportunities, including 6-1 in the second half.
